What inspires you to get out of bed in the morning?

The prospect of being able to wear a new outifit. I think of outfits as temporary works of art and each day is an opportunity to create a new artwork.

What was the last photograph you took?

I took a photo of my boyfriend awkwardly holding one of my cats on my new fandangeled Polaroid camera.

What is your favourite vintage piece?

Ooooh…thats a hard one because my whole wardrobe is vintage! I think my favourite is probably a red, hand sewn 1950s dress that was my frist ever online vintage purchase. I feel like a character from Mad Men whenever I put it on.

Dropstitch. How/why did you start your Perth Street Chic blog?

I started Dropstitch because I was sick of hearing people constantly bagging out Perth. I wanted to show people that Perth is a fashionable city with a stylish population, and a street fashion site seemed the perfect way to do that.

Five words to describe yourself.

Tall, organised, homebody, vintage nut.

The Clothing Exchange

Thursday, February 4th, 2010

I’ve been getting so many queries regarding our Swap Parties. Unfortunately they won’t be held at Winnie B’s any longer! :( So thankyou for your support!

HOWEVER don’t fret, I’d like to introduce Mia and Vanessah from                         The Clothing Exchange! Same concept just a different location. We’re joining forces to make them bigger and better for YOU!

There has been a surge of interest in ethical issues around shopping, particularly regarding landfill and the link to global warming. The $1.7 billion Australians spend on clothing and accessories each year is turning into a landfill problem: just look at the bags bulging with discards dumped out.  Until now, it has been assumed that eco-consciousness is at loggerheads with the passion for bargain-hunting and fast fashion that fuelled the continuing chain-store boom.  But a swap event is an opportunity for guilt-free shopping.

So why not trade shopping for swapping.  It combines ethical shopping, bargain hunting and social networking – and it’s the hottest fashion trend.  Buying or sharing second hand garments eliminates the need for new ones and shrinks your ecological fashion footprint.

The swapping craze has been gathering momentum for some time. The Clothing Exchange is a network that hosts swap nights at chic venues in most capital cities and is now in Perth.

Swap events book out so quickly so get in quick to book your tickets online at
