This fair is on twice a year, with 50+ stalls and a lot of imported stock, with many of the sellers travelling to Europe or the US to bring in records and other music related items that aren’t often seen in Perth

There is a $2 entry fee, the rec centre kiosk is open so you can have a feed while browsing the massive range of stock.

It is the perfect place to come if you are looking for those last few items to complete a collection …or just starting one.

All types and styles of music are represented and between them the sellers know most of the things worth knowing about music so you can come and find out about grading the condition of records or even just what is a reasonable price to pay for a particular item.

It was wonderful! Simply wonderful! Benjamin and I spent three nights looking around and filling the car with treats and wonders from our Great South West. A visit to Nanna in Bunbury, a night in Balingup then across to the Broomehill Village!

Swing out to live big bands after Thursday night classes in Leederville!

Dance up a storm on one of Perth’s best dance floors, with cheap drinks available, easy parking, and bars and cafes nearby. DJ Peter Mizza will be spinning tunes this month! All are welcome!

We really encourage dressing up in some vintage garb, or something with that elegant touch. Help us create the vibe of yesteryear, befitting a night with a live big band in da house! You may be able to find something retro to purchase with the new vintage stalls that are being added on the night! Vintage Stalls NOW @ The Leedy Hop Live!
If you have some vintage collectables, clothing, shoes, hats, books, music, accessories etc that relate to the jazz era from the 1920’s-1940’s, then you may wish to have a stall at the Leedy Hop Live. Once a month you can display and sell your retro gear in a wonderful environment of Lindy Hop dancing and Big Band Jazz! Stall spaces are limited. August already has Ashliegh in Wonderland and Michelle Turner’s amazing collection. Book your stall by contacting sophie@swingzing.com . The Leedy Hop Live runs on the last Thursday of the month 7-11pm, at the Yugal Club, 288 Oxford St, Leederville. Stall set up is from 5.30pm.

I get many interesting Perth muso’s and artists, fashionista’s, stylists, collestors and fabulous people in the shop. Miss Ruby Boots is just one of them.

What inspires you to get out of bed in the mornings/afternoons?

My heart starts beating faster about half an hour after i open my eyes at the thought of what the day brings, i usually don’t get up till that happens, so life really… thats what inspires me.

The last song you wrote…what was it about? These damn grey clouds that keep rolling in, and how music is what keeps me company, and is by far the best type of company over these rainy grey winter months, great writing weather!

The Bluebird’s whistle can’t be heard no more

The Suns gone missing and the days they seem a chore

Who are you listening to at the moment? The new Black Keys Album, Ray LaMontagne, Death Cab for Cutie “Plans” and Ryan Adams “Heartbreaker” are the four CD’s i have had on heavy rotation of late, On my iPod I have Nada Surf, The Ghost Hotel and Boy n Bear that is getting most of the recent attention.

Ruby Boots. Why/how’d you start? I started playing the guitar when i was working on boats about 6 or so years ago, it kept me sane and took me to another world when i was stuck out at sea for weeks at a time, once i started writing songs i couldn’t look back i wouldn’t change a thing now!! Music is too delicious, I’m always finding new flavours, it gets better and better.

Five words to describe yourself: excitable, passionate, fast, loud and loving.
